AONIYOSHI

"AONIYOSHI(青丹よし), the city of Nara is in full bloom right now, like a blooming flower." This is from Manyoshu that is the Japanese Tanka collection in 8th century. I received the sweets from a friend who went to Nara. "AONIYOSHI" is a famous confectionery from Nara.

The hanging scroll is "春風吹又生". It means new flowers bloom in the spring breeze again. Plants and trees sprout in the spring breeze.

The shelf is "Yoshino shelf". You can see the “mizusashi” from the round window, and the shoji screen in the back is atmospheric.

In today's lesson, everyone is dressed in kimono, and tea is served by called “Kinindate”. This is a certain procedure for serving tea to superiors or people of status, the seat in front of the alcove is reserved for a noble guest, and the tea bowl is set on a wooden stand.

“natsume” (tea container) is lacquered with "Warabi" (bracken) made by Kawase Hyokan in Kyoto.

"AONIYOSHI" is a dried confectionery that that is a season word of March and heralds the arrival of spring

The soft Wasanbon with its light purple and matcha green color is sweet and reminds us of the flowers of Nara.

You can also feel spring in the Hina tea bowl, and the warabi on the natsume.
