From January to March this year, the tea class was closed due to the state of emergency. In April, we resumed the class last week for the first time in three months. Every year from the first tea of the new year to February in the midwinter and the Dolls Festival on March, the tea of each month continues, but this year it is the first tea of cherry blossoms.
The card of poem is "Incense wind (kou-hu in Japanese) " written by the chief priest of Kawasaki Daishi. The incense wind is a wind that blows flowers, and the ancient text says "Voice of the Pure Land". With compassion in the pure breeze and prayer for the extinction of the plague.
The shelf is called "Yoshino shelf", which is a favorite of Ennosai (Urasenke 13th generation). A design that makes use of the round window called Yoshino window.
On the left side of the shelf, there are shoji screens for the Ro season (in winter) and reed blinds for the Furo season (in summer), each of which has its own taste.
The natsume (tea container) is "Cherry blossoms and Swallows" with a narrow style of zelkova (tree) pattern. A swallow of mother-of-pearl work is flying over the weeping cherry tree.
The tea bowl is a Kyoto Kiyomizu ware named "Raft with flowers". The tea shines on the cherry blossoms in a flat bowl. Whenever I see this bowl, I feel the spring of Kodaiji Temple in Kyoto.
The tea scoop (picture bellow) is made by "Maeda Shodo" at Zuihoin, Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto. The specific name "Kissa-ko (in Japanese)" is a Zen word that says, "please take a cup of tea". It is a basic word to learn in the tea ceremony. Although It is a simple three-letter character, it means that you should make tea with all your heart and soul.
