Cherry blossoms bloomingšŸŒø

Updated: May 18, 2023

It's cherry blossom season again this year. From year to year, flowering comes earlier, reaching full bloom in March. Even though the cold rain continues, the petals that continue to bloom are beautiful.

The hanging scroll is "ꘄé¢Ø吹又ē”Ÿ", and it means new flowers bloom in the spring breeze again. The flowers are snow willows and forsythia that are the colors of spring in the courtyard.

The shelf used for tea procedure is called "ę›“å„½shelf" (Koko-dana). Itā€™s one of the favorites of Urasenke 11th generation Gengensai, which was originally wooden, but it was named because it was further changed to taste by making the edges nail red and lacquering with persimmon tannin coating. In the middle of the shelf the ladle and lid rest are placed, and today's lid rest is a paper-covered lamp designed with cherry blossom.

The ā€œnatsumeā€(tea container) is a narrow and elongate type painted in a weeping cherry tree and swallows. It is a combination that makes you think of cherry blossom viewing lights.

The tea bowl is a flat type of Kiyomizu ware in Kyoto named ā€œHana-ikadaā€ (flower raft) that always adds flowers to this season.

The sweets are "Takase no Sakura"(cherry blossoms at Takase), made by Kyoto Kan-ei-do. A delightful dish with the scent of cherry blossoms.

The cherry blossoms in the courtyard that I can see from my room also blossomed widely. (Bottom left of photo)

At the cherry blossom trees in front of Miyazakidai Station (lower right in the photo), the cherry blossom festival was held in the shopping district for the first time in four years since the Corona disaster. It's been a long time since the brass band and cheers echoed, and it's been a lively springā™Ŗā™Ŗ

Spring is the time of departure, and in my classroom, the college student becomes new members of society.

May we continue to pave the way for good in the future.
